There’s a revolution afoot in Beirut: recent grads are rebelling against the career path that puts them behind a desk at a steady job. Instead, they’re taking on the risks of the entrepreneur and setting out on their own. They’ve taken to cybserspace, launching an unprecedented number of tech ventures. The startup accelerator Seeqnce has stepped up to support the rebellion. On August 25th, eight teams were selected from over 400 applicants to present their ideas to the public at “The Rise of the Startups” event. With the aspiration that this event becomes a yearly tradition of innovation and radical creativity, presented here are the stories behind the eight teams – what they’re up to, why they did it, and the words of wisdom they have for future Seeqnce applicants.
